A Letter From Rare

I love Perfect Dark. Before Perfect Dark, I loved Golden Eye - but there is something about the pseudo sequel that I just can't get enough of. Maybe it's the fantastic multiplayer or the perfectly weighted single player missions...I can't put my finger on it. A testament to this is the fact that I even went ahead and downloaded the XBLA hi-definition remake for the Xbox 360, even though I already have the original cart for the N64.

Back in 2001, I felt just as strongly and took it upon myself to write to Rare to tell them just how awesome I thought their game was. I wasn't expecting any form of reply - I just wanted to let them know how appreciative I was to them for all of their efforts in creating one of the best games of all time.

If I remember rightly, the 19 year old me wrote the letter by hand on lined paper as I didn't even have a computer back then! Somebody at Rare must have been a little touched though, as a few weeks later I received a reply in the post!

And here it is:

Sadly, Rare's post-N64 games haven't really lived up to the benchmark set by Perfect Dark (OK, Perfect Dark Zero is perfectly serviceable), but I just thought I'd share with everyone this unique piece of personal interaction with the PD developers.
